All The Details
We have two unusual condos at one of the oldest condominiums complexes in Greenville — McDaniel Heights, built in 1939 on Cleveland Street near the intersection with McDaniel Avenue, within walking distance of the YMCA and the Swamp Rabbit Trail, and just a mile from South Pleasantburg and Greenville Technical College. Both of our units are small — one bedroom, one bathroom, living room, and between 750 and 800 square feet — and we chose them for the phenomenal location. Because of the location, and despite their lack of flashiness, these condos tend to attract healthcare workers and young professionals.
#7B is a first-story unit with the distinction of having once had one of the longest tenancies in SouthLand history (some 25 years). We are honored to have so many people trust SouthLand with their housing needs for many years.
It has been fully and extensively renovated, with architectural changes that have allowed the kitchen and living room to be somewhat more open than as they were originally built in the 1930s. We have also added plank flooring in the living room and bedroom, and granite countertops and stainless appliances in the kitchen.
One nice feature — each of the units has a small covered front patio overlooking an unusually generous green space, considering the size of the complex. McDaniel Heights has one of the best and most spacious green spaces of any complex we have seen. Directly next door to #7B is a beautiful little pocket garden that is filled with glorious blooms in the spring and early summer, including pink and white dogwoods and azaleas.
Cleveland Street is a major artery that swiftly carries you to the downtown area — and can also just as swiftly carry you east to Pleasantburg Drive, Greenville Technical College, and an abundance of dining opportunities, including Pita House (Middle Eastern), Frodos’ Pizza “The Original”, Grateful Brew, (a coffee shop), the India Palace (Indian) and Red Bowl (Asian) restaurants. The Fresh Market, (a gourmet supermarket), and Publix Super Market at McAlister Square anchor that end of South Pleasantburg as well.
Take Cleveland Street or Faris Road westward and you’ll reach Augusta Road within blocks. Restaurants and grocery stores in that area include Augusta Grill, Davani’s, Chicken Salad Chick, The Blockhouse Restaurant and Harris Teeter, along with a number of small specialty shops. Faris Road provides direct and easy access to Prisma Hospital, along with many doctors’ offices.
Closer to home, the Caine Halter Family YMCA is just a block away, and single family homes, apartments, churches, and a few offices are located along this beautiful street. Walk north through the McDaniel Heights green space and onto a spur trail for about 3/10 of a mile and you have access to the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail and Cleveland Park.
